Map of the Bay of Cádiz. Framed art print. Spain, possibly, around 1830. Framed plan showing the Bay of Cádiz (Spain) with a view of the city at the bottom, flanked by legends indicated with Arabic numerals on the plan. You can see the Castle of San Sebastián, Chiclana, La Carraca, etc., and a series of sailing ships that are also explained to the right (French camps and batteries, Constitutional Ships, etc.). Compare with the “Plan of the Bay of Cádiz: Spanish flotilla of the Guadalete, composed of II gunboats and bombards that left the Port of Santa Maria to join the squadron (...)” of the Cartographic Archive of Geographic Studies of the Geographic Center of the Army (Collection: SG — Signature: Ar.GT.8-C.4-727), and the view of the city with “Vue Perspective de la ville de Cadiz du cote du port” (copper plate engraving from around 1770 , A Paris chez Daumont rue St. Martin). It is likely that it reflects the situation in 1823 before the arrival of the Ten Thousand Sons of San Luis to free Fernando VII.

The jug, with a high profile and curved spout, is decorated with alternating bands in turquoise green with flowers and white with lines and stems. The handle has been worked into the shape of a flower, with a curved stem. It is this prominence of the curved line and nature that unites the piece to Art Nouveau models from around 1900, while the decoration relates it to French porcelain centers such as Sèvres.
