Panther. Bronze, stone. Twentieth century. Inspired by BARYE, Antoine-Louis (Paris, 1795-1875). Antoine-Louis Barye was a French sculptor of realistic romanticism, trained in the workshop of his father (a goldsmith), with François Joseph Bosio, Antoine-Jean Gros and at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He was known and appreciated for his bronze sculptures, created in his own foundry, among which those of fighting animals stood out. His pieces are preserved in prominent private collections and in institutions such as the National Museum of Warsaw, the Walters Art Museum, etc.
