Landscape. Oil on canvas. DEL VAL TROUILLHET, Mercedes (Valladolid, 1926-2012). Signed (lower right area). Mercedes del Val Trouillhet was a painter from Valladolid who began her training at a very young age (her first lessons at seven, directed from Madrid by her teacher Timoteo Pérez Rubio). After the Spanish Civil War, she went on to study with the renowned draftsman and poster artist José Picó Mitjans (1904-1991). From the beginning of her career, she focused on landscapes, especially those of Castile, and exhibited her work in several shows (Valladolid in 1947, later Madrid, Córdoba, etc.). She also received several awards (Silver Medal at the 29th Autumn Salon in Madrid in 1957, etc.) and her paintings are held in various private collections and institutions such as the Museum of the University of Valladolid.
