Pair of safe keys from the 17th century. Wrought iron. Measurements: 13.5 x 4.5 cm. Pair of wrought iron safe keys, dating from the 17th century, with a complex design on the head, a hollow body and a flattened arch-shaped finish. Since the late Middle Ages, it was common for safes and treasure chests to have two or more locks, the keys of which remained in the possession of different people. In this way, it was ensured that the box was only opened in the presence of the owners of all the keys.
