José María García Fernández, better known as José María Castilviejo, was a Spanish painter who worked in various techniques (oil, watercolor, engraving, drawing) and very varied themes (known above all for his portraits, still lifes and landscapes), highlighting, according to criticism, in capturing in his work the union of the traditional with the contemporary reflected in a deep existence of the community. Recognized with awards such as the Castilla y León de las Artes (2002), his work is preserved in private collections and institutions such as the Robinson and Rostchild Collections, New York Museum of Art, Universidad Laboral de Zamora, etc.
