Antiques - Miscellaneus / Graphic Work
Reference: ZF135431

Advertising poster, La Estrella café. Cardboard. Spain, circa early 20th century. It has faults. An advertising poster for the well-known coffee brand, La Estrella, features a curious slogan related to its aroma. La Estrella was founded in 1887 in Badajoz by José Gómez Tejedor, who obtained the patent for torrefacto coffee in Spain in 1901. He developed and registered a Cuban trick used by miners: wrapping coffee beans in sugar to preserve them. His technique for fixing the aroma during roasting changed coffee consumption, as previously the aroma could not be preserved and the coffee had to be roasted where it was consumed.
