Chapel of the Immaculate Conception. Sculpture, carved wood, glass, metal. Second half of the 18th century. Carved wooden chapel with decoration on the upper part of the railing and balusters in the shape of a vase of a certain Baroque souvenir, which presents three of its four fronts in transparent glass and stands slightly on circular legs. Inside, you can see a golden background (on the fourth front of the chapel, highlighting a carved and polychrome plant composition), and a polychrome sculpture of the Immaculate Conception surrounded by alternating flat and wavy and pointed and circular light rays. The carving stands on a pedestal, and presents a white tunic and a blue mantle; Mary stands on the Orb of Creation, in which a snake appears (linked to Sin). The carving shows a clear influence of Spanish Baroque models, in addition to certain details such as posture that can be linked to Neoclassicism. This mixture and the maintenance of the Baroque influence are common in Spanish sculpture of the 18th century.

The fountain. Polychrome terracotta. 20th century, following models by CARRIER-BELLEUSE, Albert-Ernest (Aisne, 1824-Sèvres, 1887). The figure shows a child, lying down and almost completely naked, with his head highlighted with a crown of gold leaves. He is shown with a shell (with touches of gold), taking water from a jug that he has next to him, thus remembering the allegories of rivers or their birth in Ancient Rome. It is necessary to compare the present work with that entitled “La Source” by Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse, preserved, for example, in the Art Institute of Chicago or that of the Portland Museum of Art (of which there are a series of variants, changing the characters and the material used). Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse was a French sculptor and draftsman trained with David d'Angers and at the Paris School of Fine Arts. He achieved international recognition through his participation in the Salon of French Artists of 1861 (Third Medal), creating outstanding works such as several busts of Napoleon III, the fireplace in the great hall of the Paris Opera, etc. His work is preserved in prominent private collections and in institutions such as the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, the Prado Museum in Madrid, etc.; In addition, we must remember its terracottas and its monuments (such as that of Bernardo O'Higgins in Santiago de Chile). It is also worth highlighting the publication in 1884 of L'application de la figure humaine à la decoration et à l'ornementation industrielles, an important collection of decorative arts of the time, and in 1876 he was appointed art director of the Manufacture. Nationale de Sèvres.

Ladder start. Molten iron. XIX century. Baluster at the beginning of the staircase railing made of iron formed by a polygonal vertical piece worked as if it were a column (base, pedestal below), which is interrupted to make room for the handrail and continues in a vase-shaped finish, and is It is decorated with grotesques (winged panther body, pearly mirror, plant elements) and volutes on a quadrangular fretwork. Although the influence of classicism is clear in some elements of the piece (volutes, symmetry, etc.), it is also necessary to indicate a certain orientalizing air in other details. These types of pieces were highly appreciated for their decorative function in palaces and public or company buildings in the 19th century, hence the quality they show in both material, technique and design.
