Reference: Z3579

Gothic grille with frame. Wrought iron, wood. Century XVI. A carved wooden frame supports the wrought iron fence that has decorated balusters: all have a heart-shaped shape in the center, while the axes are smooth on top and spiraled below in those with the heart facing up, and spiraled. above and smooth below in those that show this shape with the beak downwards. These heart-shaped shapes appear, for example, in the Gothic grille of the Cathedral of Pamplona or in that of the Main Chapel of the Cathedral of Zamora, or in that of the Monastery of Guadalupe. Thin square-section bars, often twisted, appear in Spanish ironwork as early as the 14th century. The “opening” of the vertical bars forming rhombuses, hearts or more complex variants can be seen in examples from the 15th century (Ávila Cathedral, etc.)
