Office table and chairs set. Walnut wood. Around 1900. Requires restorations. Furniture set consisting of an office table with armchairs and high backrest, four high-back chairs without arms and footrest, made of carved walnut wood. The table, with five drawers on one of its fronts, shows a series of carvings with plant and architectural themes reminiscent of Neo-Renaissance. This same influence can be seen in the carvings of the armchair, which also features animal protomes on the arms and studded leather upholstery. The chairs in this set, again, respond to the same style, and have a back and seat upholstery with gold studs. The footrest has a somewhat simpler decoration.

Friar armchair. Walnut wood, textile. Spain, 17th century. Armchair with arms and high back of the type known as “frailero” upholstered in red and yellow textile, with fringes on the seat and the lower part of the backrest. The carved decoration of plant elements and grooves is centered on the finishes of the backrest and on the front of the furniture; The openwork shell between the front legs shows simple geometric shapes and curved details around a carved figurehead. The friar armchair, initially of Italian origin, became one of the most common pieces of Spanish furniture since its introduction in the 16th century, being characteristic of this and the 17th century and being recovered again in the historicist current of the 19th century.
