TABLE WITH ORIENTAL DOORS. METAL, BRONZE, WOOD. 19TH CENTURY AND LATER.

Dining table with an oriental door top. Embossed metal, wood, bronze. 19th century and later. Dining table made with a wooden structure reinforced with metal elements and which displays as a tabletop two 19th century bronze doors, for use with a glass top over this element. The bronze door features a series of decorative elements arranged within four square areas. A central motif (with birds and peacocks perched on a "Tree of Life" type plant element) is highlighted by simplified vegetal decoration and framed with bands of simple flowers and leaves. Four squares flank each of these, with a central band of floral buds. Both the decoration and its arrangement, as well as the shape of these bronze doors, are typical of Eastern traditions, particularly reminiscent of works from India.
