The hardware, decorated with balustraded forms, features a lock adorned with shells, column shafts, and simplified plant motifs arranged symmetrically. Both the material and decoration of the piece are inspired by 17th-century Baroque works, with details (the shells) also found in older Spanish furniture. This type of piece was very common in Historicist movements, drawing inspiration from antique furniture to create works in the 19th and 20th centuries.
