Desk, following English designs. Mahogany wood, metal. A rectangular, plain-topped writing desk with four cabriole legs and drawers at the front (with metal handles decorated with cut-out bows and simplified plant motifs) arranged around a carved scallop-shaped detail, beneath which the profile is carved in curves and counter-curves. The piece is inspired by English models in both its decoration and lines. Compare with examples from the George II or Georgian period.
