Bronze sculpture, “Cupid”. Lost-wax casting. Marble base. The god of love in classical mythology is distinguished by the quiver of arrows on his back and by his butterfly wings, rather than the more common feathered wings. This theme was very common in 19th-century French bronzes (recall, for example, those by the Moreau family).
