Heraldic shield. Carved alabaster. Spain, 17th century. A quartered shield with seven Moor's heads facing the center, each adorned with a crest, and a bird in the crest. The first quarter is checkered with chains in rows of three and five; the second quarter is quartered with rooks and chevrons, each bearing a pendant; the third quarter is a saltire surrounded by seven saltires; the fourth quarter has three horizontal bands. The shield is surmounted by a plumed knight's helmet facing left, flanked by a composition of grotesques with busts, volutes, and architectural elements above the hats of the human figures; below, another bust flanked by vegetal and architectural elements. The composition corresponds to typical models of the 17th century, maintaining a marked classicism. Compare, for example, with that of the Casa de Begoña in Agurain, one in the Barrio del Cantero in Barcenillas (Cantabria), etc.
