Finish in carved, polychrome and gilded wood, 18th century. A painted finial imitating marble, decorated with scrolls and carved and gilded vegetal motifs on its front surface. It would have formed part of a larger work, such as an altarpiece, and is notable for the quality of its workmanship and its polychromy. The volume of the carving and the movement conveyed by its curves link this finial to the Baroque period, while some details recall the Rococo style.

Small roofed casket with remains of polychromy, 16th century. A rectangular casket with a roof-shaped lid, which gives its name to this type, very common in Gothic architecture. The lock shield and bolt are antique, although not from the 16th century like the rest of the piece. It is worth noting that it retains some of its original polychromy: green on the exterior and red on the interior.

Walnut wood dining table with wrought iron braces. 18th century. The dining table has a rectangular, smooth top supported by legs that, in a simplified form, follow the most common Baroque examples known as "lyre" legs, and are secured by straight wrought iron braces. The influence of 17th-century models is common in the following century, although curves are softened and straight lines are favored due to the influence of Neoclassicism.

Circular drop-leaf table. Carved oak. Possibly Spain, 18th century. Circular winged table made of carved oak wood that has a series of legs joined by chambranles, which have a decoration of channels and small discs, contrasting with the mere undulating shapes of the edges of some of the legs of the furniture and the curve of the upper area of the spaces that remain on the fronts when the wings of the table are folded. The simplicity of the piece links it more to the utilitarian furnishings of prominent residences than to examples intended for the main rooms of a home. However, the decorative elements mentioned show a clear Neoclassical influence and a certain Baroque flair, a somewhat common combination in 18th-century Spanish furniture. Note that the decoration is concentrated on the lower part of the piece, reflecting the custom of covering tables with rich fabrics to further enhance their appearance. While walnut was commonly used in antique Spanish furniture, oak examples are not uncommon, as it is a wood with a striking grain, abundant at the time, and durable. Similar examples to the present one have been preserved in prominent residences and important collections such as the Museum of Decorative Arts in Madrid, the Lope de Vega House Museum (somewhat earlier examples), National Heritage Collections, etc.

Pocket watch, Deroches Brothers. Gilt metal, enamels, etc. Possibly towards the end of the 18th century. Pocket watch with a case featuring a transparent glass section and an enameled composition on the back (two ladies, one of them playing a harp and holding a musical score on a music stand). The white dial displays Arabic numerals for the hours and vertical lines and Arabic numerals every 15 units for the minutes, along with the inscription “Deroches.” The movement is delicately decorated and engraved with a serial number and the name “Deroches.” Similar pocket watches signed by the Deroches Brothers are known from the second half of the 18th century, as well as examples from “Frères Deroches & Cìa.” from the 19th century.

Regimental strongbox. Iron. Possibly Germany, 18th century. It has faults. A rectangular safe with a flat lid containing the upper locking mechanism (which has a simple mechanism to cover the keyhole; this was usually concealed by a decorated cover not visible here), and handles on the sides. It also features two flat elements and two half-rings on the front, presumably used for padlocks. This would require three different keys to access the safe, protecting against theft and suggesting its use by an organization. Note also the carved decoration of the lid with simple geometric shapes and the yellow polychrome finish. In the center of the front, remnants of a heraldic shield can be seen. The most prominent feature of this heraldic shield is a double-headed eagle with a closed crown on top and a heraldic shield with various elements in the center of its body. This eagle was used by the Holy Roman Emperor between approximately 1433 and 1806, among others. It was also used by the Austrian Empire (whose coat of arms was created in 1815, after the Congress of Vienna). Weight: 70 kg.

Finial. Carved pine wood. 17th century. The finial or crest is made of carved pine wood in its natural color with a human bust in the center, positioned holding two volutes and thus creating an axis of symmetry for the elaborate composition of the piece, based on flowers, plant motifs, architectural details, etc., with a certain classicist influence and a lot of movement and depth. The fact that the back is not detailed suggests that this relief may have originally been part of a large altarpiece, given the size and quality of the piece. Both the movement and the decorative elements of the composition link the work to the Spanish Baroque.

Bench. Walnut. Spanish school, 17th century. A walnut wood bench, carved in its natural color, with a backrest formed by a smooth rectangular panel and a seat made of a similar panel, both positioned at an angle. The legs have a distinctive lyre shape and are decorated with raised vegetal and architectural motifs (volutes). It also features two wooden braces with undulating profiles. Lyre-leg tables originated in Spain during the reign of Charles II, in the second half of the 17th century. The simplest versions feature a simple cutout on the side legs, while models with peripheral centers are completely carved. This supporting element, as can be seen, was also used in other types of furniture. The material is also typical of old Spanish cabinetmaking, although it should be noted that the most common practice, it seems, was for the braces to be made of wrought iron.

Pair of carved wooden brackets. Venice, 19th century. Pair of 19th-century figurative corbels, carved in the round from wood, with a beautiful dark patina that enhances the relief and details of the sculptural work. They are signed on the back “Felici Venezia”. The lintels, with their molded profile and Baroque-inspired design, featuring numerous recesses and projections, rise above two vegetal herms in the Classical style. The lower portion, shaped like a corbel, is adorned with large acanthus leaves, delicately carved, giving them a soft, mellow appearance. This style departs from the general Classical inspiration, leaning towards the naturalism of Art Nouveau. From these corbels emerge the busts of two winged cherubs, childlike figures sculpted in the round with grace and attention to detail, possessing a delicate dynamism. The two putti are depicted in the same pose, with one arm flexed across their chest and the other raised above their heads. They form a symmetrical composition, each a mirror image of the other. The high quality of the carving of these pieces is especially evident in these figurative representations: the anatomical work is impeccable, as is the expressiveness of the faces, and the carving of the wings, hair, and ribbons adorning their torsos reflects meticulous, naturalistic, and exquisite attention to detail.

Washing basin. Stone. 18th century. A stone basin or trough with three straight walls, both inside and out, and one of the shorter walls angled inwards (this side was used for washing clothes). On the other side, towards the bottom, there is a hole for easier emptying. Furthermore, being a purely utilitarian item, its form and material changed very little over the centuries.

Devotional pendant, Virgin and Saint Joseph with Child. Gold, etc. Possibly Spain, 18th century. Devotional medallion with a gold frame, decorated with elements clearly influenced by French Neoclassical styles (vases at the top, garlands with ribbons, vegetal motifs, etc.). One side depicts the Virgin Mary with her hands on her chest in prayer. The other shows Saint Joseph with the Child Jesus, identified by his flowering staff. The beads, made of carved wood, are similar to those used in Majorcan school rosaries, decorated with fine, parallel carved lines and finished in a very dark tone. The composition of both religious figurative scenes is reminiscent of Rococo works in their colors, but also shows the clear influence of Spanish Baroque models.

Victorian dressing table. Mahogany wood, metal, glass. England, 19th century. A mahogany dressing table with carved legs, its front legs turned like banded columns and topped with vase-like shapes. It features a drawer at the front and a recessed upper section with three drawers on each side and a closed compartment in the center, beneath a rectangular mirror. The mirror is enhanced with openwork vegetal decorations on the sides and a small crest of architectural motifs at the top. The Victorian style, popular during the reign of Queen Victoria of Great Britain in the second half of the 19th century, was widely used in the country and had a significant influence abroad. The clean lines highlight the high-quality wood grain and reflect a long tradition in English furniture, which is generally characterized by fewer decorative elements than its French counterparts.
