Console table. Carved and ebonized wood. France, 19th century. A console table in carved, ebonized wood, decorated with architectural elements and symmetrical engraved plant motifs of distinctly classical influence. Egg-and-dart molding, pilasters, fluted bands, and other moldings complement floral motifs common in 19th-century furniture. Ebonized wood was a common material, slightly reducing the cost of certain pieces.
