Girl writing on a fence. Lithograph. 20th century, following models by BRUNDAGE, Frances. Frances Isabelle (Lockwood) Brundage (United States of America, 1854-1937) was a highly regarded illustrator known for her charming children's illustrations on postcards, Valentine's Day cards, calendars, and other items published by Raphael Tuck & Sons, Samuel Gabriel Company, and Saalfield Publishing. She also illustrated several children's classics, including novels by Louisa May Alcott and Johanna Spyri, and the story of Robin Hood. This particular work is inspired by a Valentine's Day card published by Raphael Tuck & Sons, which was so well-received that postcards based on it were even published in Spain.
