Washing basin. Stone. 18th century. A stone basin or trough with three straight walls, both inside and out, and one of the shorter walls angled inwards (this side was used for washing clothes). On the other side, towards the bottom, there is a hole for easier emptying. These types of basins were quite common until the widespread introduction of washing machines and running water into homes, especially those without decorative elements, as is the case here. Furthermore, being a purely utilitarian item, its form and material changed very little over the centuries.
