Reference: ZF1419
Louis XV style writing desk. Gilt bronze, stone. Possibly French school, 19th century. Gilt bronze writing desk with a metal plate at the bottom and, at the top, a decoration based on plant and architectural elements, with a certain classicist influence, but with a composition and combination of movement somewhat reminiscent of Rococo. Raised on scroll-shaped legs, it features two inkwells with hinged lids and a central area revealing a veined stone slab (possibly marble) in the shape of a heart, surrounded by plant and architectural elements. There is evidence of the existence of another very similar example in a French private collection, something common in this type of work due to the high specialization of the bronze workshops in France, who created a series of identical or very similar works that, in turn, they sold to dealers or other workshops for use in clocks, fittings, etc. adding elements of porcelain, marble, wood...
