Mars. Framed engraving. Pineda. Spain, 1876. Engraving of the god Mars after the painting by Velázquez, preserved in the Prado Museum in Madrid. It is said to be print number 4 in the third volume of El Grabador al Aguafuerte, sold in the first issue in 1876. The engraver's surname was Pineda and the printer was Calcografía Nacional.

Self-portrait by Esteban March (attributed). Framed engraving. MAURA Y MONTANER, Bartolomé. Spain, 1874. Engraving inspired by a painting considered a self-portrait that in the 19th century was believed to be by Esteban March (as indicated by the inscription), but which is now attributed to Orazio Borgianni. It was originally published as number thirteen, in the first volume of El Grabador al Aguafuerte, put on sale in the fourth issue of 1874. The copper plate is preserved in the Calcografía Nacional of Madrid (R. 5072), the printer of the work. It was published by the Society of Artists.

Engraving inspired by the famous Goya painting which, when it was made, was in the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid (Spain). As indicated below the image, it is the work of Antoine-François Dezarrois for an article about the painter in La Revue de l'art ancien et moderne, a periodical founded by Jules Comte in 1987 and directed by him (until his death in 1912).

Print by Francisco Torras y Armengol (Tarrasa, 1832-Madrid, 1878) that originally formed part of El Grabador al Aguafuerte (The Etching Engraver), on sale in the second issue of 1874. The copper plate is preserved in the Calcografía Nacional, which appears as the printer of the work. The publisher was the Society of Artists. Telemachus, son of Odysseus and Penelope, is a character in the Odyssey and, according to some sources, the father of Persepolis and the poet Homer with Polycasta, daughter of Nestor.

Erato. Framed engraving. TORRAS ARMENGOL, Francesc. Spain, circa 1874. Framed etching showing a female figure in a natural landscape, holding a stringed musical instrument in one arm. In ancient Greek mythology, Erato was the muse of choral lyricism and love and, since the Renaissance, she has been depicted crowned with myrtle and roses and carrying a small lyre or a zither, sometimes with a golden arrow, etc. This etching was originally part of the first volume (number 45, as indicated in the upper corner) of the El Grabador al Aguafuerte collection, which went on sale in 1874. It is a print created by Francisco Torras y Armengol (Tarrasa, 1832 - Madrid, 1878).

Girl writing on a fence. Lithograph. 20th century, following models by BRUNDAGE, Frances. Frances Isabelle (Lockwood) Brundage (United States of America, 1854-1937), was an illustrator greatly appreciated for her endearing children's illustrations on postcards, valentines, calendars, etc., which were published by Raphael Tuck & Sons, Samuel Gabriel Company and Saalfield Publishing, and several children's classics (novels by Louisa May Alcott, Johanna Spyri, the story of Robin Hood, etc.). This work is inspired by a Valentine's card published by Raphael Tuck & Sons, and it was so well received that postcards inspired by it were even published in Spain.

Garland; Raffaello inv, Volpato Scul. Edit PV 5. Painted engraving, framed. 20th century, after an ancient work inspired by Raphael Sanzio. Coloured and framed engraving depicting a garland of flowers, fruits and ribbons enhanced by a fine frame of plant elements. To the right of the image we can read “Rafaello inv / Edizioni Ponte Vecchio” and “Volpato scul. Edit PV5” (the latter on two stamps). The work is based on 18th-century engravings by Giovanni Volpato (1733-1803) and Raffaelo Sanzio Morghen (1758-1833), published by Edizioni Ponte Vecchio, which contain images of Raphael Sanzio’s frescoes in the Vatican Loggia (Rome, Italy).

Plants; Helleboraster maximus, etc. Coloured engraving, framed. 20th century, inspired by BESLER, Basilius (1561-1629). Hand-colored and framed engraving showing, in the center, a plant, flanked by two smaller ones. All three have their name, in Latin, below them, highlighting the central one, Helleboraster maximus, named Helleborus foetidus by Linnaeus in 1753, is a genus of angiosperms of the Ranunculaceae family, and one of its varieties is known as the Christmas rose. The plate is inspired by one from the work “Hortus Eustettensis” by Basilius Besler (1561-1629), who was a respected German doctor, pharmacist, and botanist, from Nuremberg.

Church of the Saints Juanes, Bilbao. Framed print. BAYÓN SALADO, Juan; “Bay-Sala” (Logroño 1913 - Bilbao 1995). Signed (lower left area). Urban view showing the Church of the Saints Juanes of Bilbao to the right with part of its surroundings and unidentified characters. Known as Juan Bay Sala, he was an artist who began his career in Bilbao, showing his work for the first time in 1941 in this city and, in 1942, in Zaragoza (where he already signed as Bay Sala), Logroño, etc. His national recognition arose from his participation in the National Exhibition of Fine Arts in 1943, and in 1945 he was a founding member of the Vizcaína Artistic Association. He exhibited his work regularly in Paris, and also showed his work in Madrid, Buenos Aires, Tokyo, Barcelona, Miami, etc. His works are found in the Museum of Fine Arts in Bilbao and the San Telmo Museum in San Sebastián among others.
