Gate coping. wrought iron XVII century. Copete or top of a gate or chapel grille made of wrought iron and formed by a horizontal crossbar to which the pieces that compose it plus one are fixed. Organized in a symmetrical composition, the elements at the ends are two forms that mix vegetal and architectural elements with a classicist influence; below and towards the center there are two small crowns of leaves (one of them presents the intertwined letters A and M, alluding to the Virgin); in the center an outstanding composition (basic element of plant and architectural motifs under a halo with alternating smooth and undulating solar rays, which is topped with a Latin cross with florid smooth arms) in which the letters IHS can be read (the second topped by a Latin cross and on a heart pierced by two elements); the other small crown has a Greek cross in its center that may allude to the Order of Calatrava or that of Montesa or that of Alcántara (polychromy is not appreciated).
