Pair of enameled porcelain figurines. “Pair of musical monkeys.” Inspired by models from the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres (France). One of the animals appears dressed as a woman, singing with a book in one hand, and the other is playing a cello. This type of figures were highly appreciated in Europe since the end of the 18th century for their exoticism, and they were made by all the main porcelain factories. This work can be related to creations from the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres (France).
