Lady. Oil on canvas. Signed (F. Lloret.) and dated (February 97) in the lower right corner. Against an indeterminate background is the bust of a lady, her head turned slightly to the left. In the lower right corner, the painter's signature and the date of completion (February 1897) can be seen. As in the rest of Europe, portraiture was a genre that enjoyed great popularity in 19th-century Spain, mainly thanks to social changes (the rise of the upper middle class, etc.) that influenced aesthetics. Hence the degree of intimacy the painting exudes, distinct from the "official portraits" preferred by the nobility.
