Puerta de Reinosa, Aguilar de Campoo. Oil on canvas. RENESES SANAHUJA, María Concepción (Madrid, 1908-1994), 1950. Signed, dated and titled in the lower right corner. The painting shows a view of one of the gates of the city of Aguilar de Campoo (Palencia), specifically the so-called Puerta de Reinosa or Burgos. María Reneses, best known for her watercolors, trained at the Madrid School of Arts and Crafts, already achieving awards. He founded the Spanish Association of Aquaquarelists (AEDA), and belonged to its Board of Directors. She participated in National Exhibitions, Biennials and various National Competitions organized by the AEPE and other institutions, being a regular at the Autumn Salons, being present in those from 1949, 1952 to 1965, 1967 to 1971, 1973, 1977 to 1981, 1976 and from 1983 to 1989. He achieved Third Medal for Watercolor in the 1956 Autumn Salon, First Medal in 1964, etc. His work could be seen in individual exhibitions in Madrid, Barcelona, one at the National Museum of Madison (Winsconsin, United States of America), etc. For more than twenty years, he sponsored an award that bore his name at the Autumn Salons, an award especially designed for young watercolor artists. Works by this painter are preserved in important private collections and institutions such as the Seville City Council...
