Fernandine bedside table bracket. Bronze, wood. Spain, time of Ferdinand VII, circa 1814-1833. A side table designed to be placed against a wall and supported by a single wooden leg, with a straight top, curved front, and decorations strongly influenced by Neoclassicism and the French Empire style (front appliqués, leg shape, composition). In Spain, this style is known as the Fernandine Style, which can be found in the decorative arts during the reign of Ferdinand VII (1814-1833), following the Empire Style and just before the Isabelline Style, and considered by some experts to be equivalent to the French Restoration and the English Regency styles.
