Devotional plaque, Saint Telmo or Sanct'Elmo. Bronze. Spanish school, 19th century. Saint Peter González became Bishop of Palencia, later joining the Dominican Order. He is known as Saint Telmo and is considered the patron saint of sailors, having been confused with Saint Erasmus of Formia (Sanct'Elmo). In this particular case, Saint Peter González is usually depicted in the Dominican habit, while Saint Erasmus is typically shown dressed as a bishop but with a symbol of his martyrdom on one hand. Weight: 163 grams.
