Rectangular washbasin. Stone. 18th century. A rectangular stone basin or trough with three straight walls, both inside and out, and one shorter wall angled inwards (this side was used for washing clothes). On the other side, towards the bottom, there is a hole for easier emptying. These types of basins were quite common until the widespread introduction of washing machines and running water into homes, especially those without decorative elements, as is the case here. Furthermore, being a purely utilitarian item, its shape and material changed very little over the centuries.
