Antiques - Miscellaneus / Ceramic
Reference: ZF1570

Pair of vases. Porcelain, bronze. Sèvres style, towards the end of the 19th century. No markings. Signed (Aly). A pair of vases made of glazed porcelain with gilt elements, featuring gilt bronze bases and a decoration of scrolls, net-like patterns, and vegetal and architectural motifs on the necks and feet. These motifs visually flank a figurative decoration that occupies the centers of both vases without interruption. These hand-painted designs depict young couples in natural landscapes (commonly known as gallant scenes), reminiscent of typical compositions in 18th-century Rococo art. The Manufacture nationale de Sèvres, one of the leading porcelain factories in Europe, was founded in 1740 (Vincentes Manufactory), moved to Sèvres in 1756, and incorporated as a royal factory in 1759. Given its fame, quality, and importance, a large number of European factories drew inspiration from its designs, decorations, colors, shapes, etc., resulting in works such as this pair of vases.
