Reference: SA025

Painting on porcelain plate. "Napoleon crossing the Alps". Inspired by the painting of Jacques-Louis David (1801-1805).
While painting pictorial subjects on porcelain plates was not uncommon in any of the major European factories, we have not had too many examples. The present work closely follows the painting of David known as "Napoleon crossing the Alps" and of which he made five versions between 1801 and 1805."
