Napoleon Crossing the Alps. Oil on porcelain. 20th century, following models by Jacques-Louis David (1801-1805). Oil painting on porcelain plate enhanced with a rectangular frame decorated with plant and architectural elements inspired by 19th-century French Neoclassicism. The work follows a well-known painting entitled “Napoleon Crossing the Alps,” of which Jacques-Louis David made a total of five versions between 1801 and 1805 (one that was in Madrid until 1812 and is now in the Château de Malmaison, another located in Charlottenburg Palace in Berlin, a third in Versailles, another in the Austrian Art Gallery in Vienna, and the last in the Palace of Versailles Museum).
