Cupboard. Walnut wood. XIX century. Wardrobe made of walnut wood carved in its color with two bodies that has three doors with a key at the top, a space in the center, and two drawers and two doors with metal handles in the lower area. On the outside, it shows a series of carvings (architectural elements, shields, plant motifs, vases, bands, smooth moldings, etc.) of classicist influence and others that recall elements of strong tradition in Spanish cabinetmaking ("scrolls" on the doors of the upper part that are reminiscent of the Gothic tradition, pearls, etc.). The 19th century was a time, in European cabinetmaking, when a series of influences and styles were mixed with the aim of creating new pieces but rooted in tradition. This example has reliefs reminiscent of the Renaissance (vases, moldings, etc.) and other details of medieval influence (scrolls, etc.), along with a composition (distribution of doors and central space) very common in this century.
