Wireless Set No. 19, MK II. Canada, circa 1942. Commonly known as Wireless Set No. 19, it was a mobile radio transceiver used in World War II primarily by the American and British armies. Designed for use in tanks and armored vehicles, it was developed in 1940 by the British War Office and Pye Radio. The Pye model was replaced by the Mk II in 1940, and the Mk II by the Mk III in 1942. The No. 19 Mk II was produced in Canada that year, an improvement on the British design (most Canadian sets used English or Cyrillic lettering on the front panel, a result of a contract with the Soviet Army).
