Capital. Carved granite. Spain, 16th century. A capital for a circular column made of carved granite, featuring volutes inspired by classical Corinthian capitals (three in total) and a series of moldings. This type is common in Spanish Renaissance buildings, as can be seen by comparing it with the courtyard of the San Isidro Museum or the Origins of Madrid (Casa de los Vargas), the cloister of Santa María de Ferreira de Pantón (Lugo), etc.
