Gloria Swanson (Chicago, March 27, 1899 – New York, April 4, 1983) was an American film actress and producer. She returned to the big screen after a hiatus with "Sunset Boulevard" (Billy Wilder, released in 1950), in which she played Norma Desmond, and which became a resounding success: she was nominated for eleven Academy Awards (winning three), etc. Note the handwritten dedication to "John" and the signature below.
