TABLE WITH ORIENTAL DOORS. METAL, BRONZE, WOOD. 19TH CENTURY AND LATER...

Dining table with oriental door top. Embossed metal, wood, bronze. 19th century and later. Dining table made with a wooden structure reinforced with metal elements and featuring two 19th century bronze doors as a top, for use with a glass top on this element. The bronze door features a series of decorative elements arranged within four square areas, in which a central motif (with birds and peacocks perched on a “Tree of Life” type plant element) is enhanced by a simplified plant decoration, and which are framed with bands of simple flowers and leaves. With four squares on each side, in the centre there is a band with flower buds. Both the decoration and its distribution, and the shape of these bronze doors are common in Eastern traditions, reminiscent above all of works done in India.

Eastern arch. Carved wood. 19th century. A piece of wood carved in its colour, which was originally intended to decorate a window. Its delicate decorative elements, located in the spandrels of the arch, and in the friezes around the door space, are reminiscent of examples from India.

Rustic chest. Solid wood, wrought iron. 20th century. Rectangular chest with a flat lid and wrought iron fittings (handles, corners, ornaments and a lock at the front) raised on legs ending in wooden disc wheels. Inside it has a space with a flat lid on one side for better organisation of the contents. Outside, it has a small drawer at the front. This type of piece, designed to store objects of a certain value, has been made in Spain since the Gothic period following a typology very similar to that of this piece.
