“Dancer with Bells”. Bronze cast using the lost-wax method. Standing on a circular base is the figure of a young woman, dressed in a short skirt and adorned with bells, holding a torch aloft and with a tambourine at her waist. These small sculptures, with circus or festive themes and a certain oriental flair, were very common in Europe throughout the 19th century, with French examples being particularly important and used as models across the continent for their quality and originality.
