BRONZE SCULPTURE, “CUPID”. AFTER MODELS FROM AUGUSTE LOUIS MATHURIN MOREAU (1834-1917).
Decoration - Bronze Sculptures
Reference: V2524
Bronze sculpture, "Cupid". Inspired by models by Auguste Louis Mathurin Moreau (1834-1917). Lost wax casting. The figure of the child is identified thanks to its wings and the bow it shows. Cupid appears half naked, with the quiver at his feet, and a stump behind. The work is based on models created by a member of the well-known Moureau family: Mathurin first exhibited at the Paris “Salon” in 1848, and it was in 1897 that he received a Medal of Honor. His work, inserted in that appreciated family style, shows a series of particularities that are still maintained in this sculpture.
