Bronze fountain. "Crying child". Lost-wax casting. This curious bronze piece depicts a naked child crying inconsolably at the sight of a toad on his knee. The figure is highly expressive; the child's face reflects panic and anguish, and he is foreshortened as if trying to get away from the animal. The piece rests on a circular marble base.
