Bronze sculpture. “Kneeling Girl”. Inspired by models by Auguste Moreau (1834-1917). Lost-wax casting. Marble base. On a bronze base given the appearance of earth, the figure of a young girl kneels next to a plant. The girl's arms are outstretched to face level, and she is looking to one side in an attitude of surprise. The work is based on models by the French sculptor Auguste Moreau, who debuted at the Paris Salon in 1861, where he exhibited frequently until 1913. He was well known for his pastoral works and allegorical pieces, and for his realistic and graceful style.
