Devotional plaque, Saint Anthony of Padua. Bronze. Spanish School, 17th century. Oval-shaped devotional plaque made of bronze, featuring a ring at the top, a molded frame with an inner band of simple geometric motifs, and a figurative relief on the front. It depicts a man in a habit, standing, holding a book in one hand (on which the Christ Child is depicted) and a cross in the other, resting on his shoulder. Two pedestals are shown, one with a skull and the other with books. Compare with the rectangular plaque in the Metropolitan Museum of Art (inventory 2012.545.12), dated to the early 17th century.
