Contour plate. Silver. Joan Pau Gasset, Barcelona, Spain, 18th century-first third of the 19th century. With contrasting marks and initials. A plate with curved profiles enhanced by smooth moldings in a design commonly known as "contoured," which was very popular in 18th-century Spanish silversmithing due to the influence of the Rococo style. The hallmarks identify it as a Barcelona work by the silversmith Joan Pau Gasett (active from the 18th century until the first third of the 19th century), although the hallmark itself has not been linked to any specific name.
