Hand-painted glazed porcelain vase. Inspired by Neoclassical designs from the Meissen and Sèvres factories. Porcelain and bronze applications. The vase displays marked influences from classical antiquity, both in its lines and its decoration, which features vegetal scrolls, garlands, strings of pearls, and other motifs. Two scenes are hand-painted on the front: a Toilette and a couple in love, both set in idealized landscapes. This type of work was highly prized in Europe, which explains why similar vases were produced in the main porcelain factories. This particular example bears many similarities to pieces from Sèvres and Meissen.

Turquoise blue vase with hand-painted scene. “Venus and Anchises”. Inspired by models from the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres (France). The vase features two handles adorned with vine leaves and bunches of grapes, along with classically inspired decorative elements. Its distinctive base, supported by four scroll-shaped legs, displays vegetal motifs in relief. The hand-painted scene on its front depicts Venus with her lover Anchises, the union from which Aeneas, a key figure in the Trojan War and considered an ancestor of Romulus and Remus, was born. Flowerpot on a pedestal. Porcelain. The circular planter features a wavy, gilded rim and a painted garland and scene on each side: both are idealized bucolic landscapes with a series of classically inspired figures. The circular pedestal resembles a smooth-shafted column flanked above and below by capitals and resting on feline legs, and its front displays a painted decoration of the same type as those already mentioned. The work was inspired by 19th-century Neoclassical models.

The work follows a well-known painting entitled “Napoleon Crossing the Alps,” of which Jacques-Louis David made a total of five versions between 1801 and 1805 (one that was in Madrid until 1812 and is now in the Château de Malmaison, another located in Charlottenburg Palace in Berlin, a third in Versailles, another in the Austrian Art Gallery in Vienna, and the last in the Palace of Versailles Museum).

A tall vase with a circular base and a flower-shaped mouth, made of glazed porcelain, with a blue background and gold elements of clear classical inspiration, an influence also present in its small handles.
