Terracotta Sculpture Signed Francisco Luque Francisco Luque Born in 1948, Luque began his studies at the School of Applied Arts in Córdoba in the early 1970s and started participating in group exhibitions in Córdoba and Jaén. His training is primarily self-taught, and he combined teaching in his hometown with a significant artistic career. In 1992, he completed a printmaking course that allowed him to expand his repertoire. Luque has a long and distinguished exhibition history and an impressive curriculum vitae. Some of his works are part of permanent collections in important galleries in Madrid, Valencia, Seville, A Coruña, Murcia, Pamplona, and Córdoba. His work can be seen regularly in both group and solo exhibitions. His sculptural style is based on an ideal concept of human beauty in which forms are embodied through a unique understanding of volume and space. His work often focuses on the nude or the female figure. His Venuses are not very stylized and are exuberant. His works feature exaggerated, exuberant, and robust proportions, which the artist models with a distinctive style that denotes a spirit brimming with humanity. According to some critics, this distinctive style is inspired by new aesthetic trends that are not closely related to classical or academic models. Clearly influenced by the paintings of Peter Paul Rubens, his sculptures represent women with exuberant forms, overflowing with sensuality and carnality, in which warmth is conveyed through the form itself. The disproportion present in his human figures, far removed from conventional canons of beauty, in turn brings him closer to a style reminiscent of Boter, full of tenderness and serenity. The closed brushstroke, with more defined figures and contours that characterizes the work of Fernando Botero, becomes in the sculptures of Francisco Luque a softness of forms and warped curves, which enclose within themselves the feminine spirit, the main motif of the author's work. Works and awards "Maternity" His work has received numerous awards and recognitions (First Prize, Valdepeñas National Painting and Sculpture Competition; First Prize for Sculpture, 25th Anniversary of the Círculo de Bellas Artes of Pozoblanco, Córdoba; Second Prize for Sculpture, 10th Villa de Rota International Prize, Cádiz; and Honorable Mention, Club 63 Sculpture Prize, Jaén; among others). His works are on permanent display at the Diocesan Museum of Fine Arts of Córdoba, the Ruiz Mateos Museum in Rota, Cádiz, the Provincial Council of Córdoba, the National Library in Madrid, and the Santaella Town Hall, among others.4 An example of Francisco Luque's monumental urban work can be seen on the promenade of his hometown, Santaella.
