The decoration based on vegetal scrolls, diamonds, rhombuses, capitals, etc. It is inspired by Italian Renaissance models, adding variations common in historicist interpretations of the 19th century.

Bureau desk. Carved oak 19th-20th centuries. Covered sample desk with three drawers in front that has slightly curved legs and a carving centered on the front of the furniture based on simple plant elements and moldings with curves and countercurves, inspired by Rococo. This style also influences the shape of the front of the furniture, especially in the area of the two drawers and the lower part of them. When you lower the lid, you discover a central hole with a horizontal board and two staggered drawers with a hole above on each side of that central area. The furniture is reminiscent of French examples inspired by the Louis XV style and created in the 19th century and early 20th century.

Octagonal side table. Rosewood wood. France, 19th century. Side table with a straight octagonal top, made of rosewood combined with another of a different tone to enhance the first. The four legs, turned with lines, are joined with a flat rhomboidal shell. The decoration has been reduced to highlight the quality of the wood and the clean lines of the furniture, which is why there are no gilded bronze applications, common in French furniture.

Leather and Castilian walnut wood chair. Metal, walnut wood, leather. Twentieth century. 10 units available; price by unit. Castilian style chair with leather backrest and seat fixed with metal studs to the structure, made of carved walnut wood. It has a carved front shell, drawing curves and leaving a circle in the center, and two other smooth shells joining the front legs with the rear ones. It is inspired by old Castilian furniture, this being a common type in old Spanish cabinetmaking.

Elizabethan chairs in walnut wood. Spain, 19th century. Composed of a sofa, two armchairs and a wing chair. The wing chair has a high upholstered backrest, in slight contrast to the armchairs (formed from juxtaposed ovals), which also show curves. In all cases, simplicity and cabriolet legs stand out. The lines of the furniture and the small decorative details they present place its creation within the style known as Elizabethan because it peaked during the reign of Elizabeth II.

Fernandina table bracket. Bronze, wood. Spain, time of Ferdinand VII, around 1814-1833. Auxiliary table created to be attached to a wall and rest on a single leg made of wood, with a straight top board, curved front and decorations with a strong neoclassicist and French Empire influence (appliqués on the front, shape of the leg, composition). In Spain, the Fernandino Style is known as the style that can be found in the decorative arts during the reign of Ferdinand VII (1814-1833), after the Empire Style and just before the Elizabethan Style, being equivalent according to some experts to the French Restoration style and the English Regency.

“Dompedro” in mahogany wood. 19th-20th century. Polygonal section furniture used to hide the urinal from view under the lid and that facilitates its use with a removable footrest. Models very similar to the present one were already used in the 19th century, and this piece of furniture was common in homes until the 19th century even. Note its similarity to examples preserved in the Museum of Romanticism in Madrid.

Chest of drawers in walnut wood with marble top. XIX century. Rectangular chest of drawers on four legs with chamfered corners divided into two registers by a fine molding: the upper one has a drawer highlighted by moldings and the lower one another three, all with two handles and a key lock. The lines of the furniture are reminiscent of the English “chest of drawers”, chests of drawers that emerged around the 17th century and that influenced some important European manufacturing centers. In the 19th century it was very common to choose styles and examples from the past to create works more in line with the time.

Desk table with lyre leg. Walnut wood, wrought iron. Beginning of the 20th century. Rectangular desk table with three drawers in front (lock with key, handle and lock shield), carved wooden lyre legs and curved turned metal fasteners decorated with scrolls and other simple elements. The lyre leg (so called because of its shape) was a common element of Spanish Baroque furniture, as is the case with the guarantors (although not exactly in the way they are presented here). It was common in the 19th and 20th centuries to be inspired by old Spanish furniture to create new pieces, adding some details or modifying others to adapt them to new uses and tastes.
