Handcrafted oriental basket. Plant fibers. Circa 1950. A circular-based basket (decorated with a fine relief of gilded plant motifs) with a curved handle and polychrome areas in red and black; the lid features a figurative composition (a seated man playing an instrument and a dancing lady, richly attired and situated in a courtly setting with architectural and plant elements), which stands out against the dark background. It follows ancient examples very common in certain areas of the Far East.
