The Fountain. Polychrome terracotta. 20th century, following models by CARRIER-BELLEUSE, Albert-Ernest (Aisne, 1824-Sèvres, 1887). The figure depicts a reclining, almost entirely nude child, his head adorned with a crown of golden leaves. He is shown holding a shell (with touches of gold), drawing water from a pitcher beside him, thus recalling the allegories of rivers or their sources in Ancient Rome. This work should be compared with Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse's "La Source," housed, for example, in the Art Institute of Chicago or the Portland Museum of Art (of which several variations exist, differing in the figures and materials used). Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse was a French sculptor and draftsman trained by David d'Angers and at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He achieved international recognition after participating in the Salon des Artistes Français in 1861 (winning the Third Medal), and went on to create notable works such as several busts of Napoleon III, the fireplace in the grand hall of the Paris Opera, and others. His work is held in prominent private collections and institutions such as the Musée d'Orsay in Paris and the Prado Museum in Madrid; in addition, his terracotta sculptures and monuments (such as the one of Bernardo O'Higgins in Santiago, Chile) should be mentioned. It is also worth highlighting the publication in 1884 of L\\'application de la figure humaine à la decoration et à l\\'ornementation industrielles, an important collection of decorative arts of the time, and in 1876 he was appointed art director of the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres.

Sculpture in calamine. Signed “Aug. Moreau”. Following models by Auguste Moreau, France, 19th century. It is reminiscent of works such as the bronze sculpture "The Fountain" by Mathurin Moreau, as well as pieces by Hippolyte Moreau and Auguste Moreau (France, 1834–1917). Auguste began his training as a pupil of his older brother, Mathurin. He debuted at the Paris Salon of 1861, where he exhibited regularly until 1913. He was also a member of the Société des Artistes Français. His subjects—genre scenes, pastoral scenes, allegorical works—and his realistic and graceful style link him to other members of the Moreau dynasty, known for their small-scale bronze works that were widely reproduced and inspired many other masters, both during the artists' lifetimes and after their deaths.

Classic bracket in marble dust. Beneath a simple molding, a volute with an open center reveals a shell-like shape in a different tone, the lines of which it follows. This two-tone effect is also seen in other architectural details of the corbel, such as the oval shield with volutes in the lower section, and the three drops in the center. While the inspiration from classical elements is clear, these have been used freely, resulting in a highly original work of art.

Writing desk. Bronze. 19th century. On a tray with curved edges, decorated with moldings and scallop shells, sit the four containers that make up the writing set. The sand tray, the feather duster, and the inkwell feature clean lines and smooth surfaces, combined with fine moldings resembling a cord; the oval box with a lid topped with a knob displays smooth moldings across its entire exterior surface. While certain details (particularly the tray) might recall some 18th-century Rococo works, the subdued movement of the tray, the decoration of the containers, the clean lines, and the lack of prominent decorative elements are more characteristic of 18th- and 19th-century Neoclassicism, as is the inspiration drawn from past styles and the combination of various influences in a single piece.

A collection of engravings by Gustave Doré, curated by Antonio de Horna and best known for his work on an edition of "Don Quixote" published in London in 1880, which was a resounding success. Having achieved success in France, he moved to England, where he was even more highly regarded for his depictions of Victorian life and customs in the mid-19th century. In this same book, Antonio de Horna includes a brief biography of the artist, explaining the intention behind this collection: "His true glory... would come to him... when his undeniable genius, embodied in more than ten thousand drawings and engravings, was recognized."

Fireplace plate with chimney pot. Cast iron. Spain, early 20th century. A rectangular cast iron fireplace surround decorated with reliefs on the front. The upper section features a composition of leaves flanking a plain shield, extending along the sides and lower section with a series of lines and more leaves of classical influence at the corners. The front depicts a figurative bullfighting scene, with a picador (or lancer) spearing a bull, which charges the horse he is riding. This type of piece was already used in the Gothic period, and outstanding examples survive, such as the one bearing the Imperial coat of arms of Charles V (dated 16th century; Lázaro Galdiano Museum, Madrid). While heraldry is considered by some experts to be the most unusual decoration on these objects, pieces with mythological or pastoral scenes, architectural elements, religious motifs, and other motifs have also come down to us. This particular piece, in addition to its interesting decoration and historical value in the study of bullfighting, is noteworthy for the quality and depth of its reliefs.
