Juan Ignacio Montero was a silversmith and contrast-marker, and the punch seen here seems to date from preserved works that have been dated between 1759 and 1779, such as a sacral in the Parish Church of San Lorenzo de Segovia (by Manuel Cardeñosa, dated in 1767). It is known that he held the position of contrast-marker in Salamanca between 1758 and 1781 and that he was active until 1779. He used a punch that incorporated the dates relative to the year, although sometimes the same iron was used in several years. Weight: 70 gr.
