Sculpture and candelabra, The Genius of Progress. Bronze. 20th century, modeled after PICAULT, Emile (Paris, 1833–1922). Engraving (S. Kelian). Large candelabrum with a Classicist-influenced allegorical figure holding this element aloft while looking down at a male figure at his feet. The work is inspired by a work by Èmile Picault known as Le Génie du progres (The Spirit of Progress) (Musée Royal de Mariemont de Morlanwelz). Other bronze works by S. Kelian are known to be held in private collections.
