Advertising poster, Café La Estrella. Cardboard. Spain, circa early 20th century. It has faults. Advertising poster for a well-known coffee brand, La Estrella, with a curious slogan referring to its aroma. La Estrella was founded in 1887 in Badajoz by José Gómez Tejedor, who obtained the patent for roasted coffee in Spain in 1901. He developed and registered a Cuban trick used by miners: wrapping coffee beans in sugar to preserve them. His technique of fixing the aroma during roasting transformed coffee consumption, as previously the aroma could not be preserved and coffee had to be roasted in the same place where it was consumed.

Saint Anthony Reading at a City Gate. Engraving. Dürer, Albert (Nuremberg, 1471-1528). Later print, possibly 19th century. Signed and dated on plate. Engraving depicting the holy hermit with his usual attributes (staff with cross, bell, hooded habit, etc.) seated, absorbed in his reading, with an imaginary city in the background. Towards the bottom of the print, both Dürer's anagram and the date of the first edition of this engraving (1519) can be seen. This same print was produced primarily during the 18th and 19th centuries, including some editions as early as the 20th century.

The Lady and the Unicorn. Tapestry. 20th century, following medieval models. Tapestry inspired by one of the series currently known as “The Lady and the Unicorn”, made up of six works in the “mille-fleurs” style and made in Flanders in wool and silk following cartoons drawn in Paris around the year 1500, and preserved in the Musée de Cluny in Paris (France). Specifically, the piece is inspired by the tapestry entitled “À mon seul désir”.

Bronze lamp in the shape of a spiral. Without a shade. A marble base highlights the spiral that forms the body of the lamp, created with bold lines using a bronze rod with a line running down the center of its profile, breaking up that area to add more movement to the piece. The edges have been emphasized, but without being too sharp, avoiding an overly aggressive feel in both the metal and the stone, while maintaining and highlighting the movement of the spiral. “Dancer with bells”. Lost wax cast bronze. On a circular base stands the figure of the young woman, dressed in a short skirt and with bells, holding a torch high and a tambourine at her waist. This type of small sculpture with a circus or festive theme and a certain oriental air was very common in Europe throughout the 19th century, with the French ones being particularly important, used as models throughout the continent for their quality and originality.

Pair of candlesticks. “Man and woman”. Lost wax casting. Marble base. These anthropomorphic candlesticks are worth highlighting for a series of details. Both in a similar posture and attire, the young woman is highlighted in height thanks to a classicist-inspired dolphin on which she rests her foot, and the man adopts a posture that is not characteristic of the more traditional male figures, but of the female ones. Although this work can be linked to the nineteenth-century French tradition of bronze figures, these details bring the works closer to more contemporary artistic approaches.
